Basic Bread Recipe
For Breakfast.

A bread recipe for breakfast is good to compliment just about anything that you have for your morning tucker. Making bread is something special and a sensual experience for people that make it for the first time.

It will certainly get you going into a full workout until you have it down pat, after you get it right it's fulfilling and can bring smiles for your family. The satisfaction that you'll get with the finished product, will be magic.

A great bread recipe.

Ingredients:

  • 1 teaspoon active dry yeast
  • 1 teaspoon of sugar
  • 1 1/3 cup of luke-warm water
  • 2 table spoons olive oil
  • 1 teaspoon of salt
  • 4 cups of bread flour (more if needed)

Method:

Place the yeast, sugar, warm water in a heavy duty electric mixing bowl with the dough hook attached, stir this in well till it is dissolved, let stand for five minutes or until it starts to foam.

Stir in the oil and salt till dissolved. At the lowest setting add the flour ¼ cup at a time till absorbed, the dough should come to a ball.

Keep mixing at this stage while still on the lowest setting for five minutes, the dough should start to get silky texture be firm but remain soft.

If the dough looks like it is sticking to the sides of the bowl add a little more flour if necessary, this will bring it back to a ball.

When done, place the dough in a bowl and cover with cling wrap and a clean tea-towel, place in a warm place to prove, about two - three hours.

Knock back and kneed the dough then roll out into the desired shapes. Bake at 200c (400f Gas mark 6) for 30 - 45 minutes, the bread should sound hollow when you knock on the base.

When made the dough can be kept for 2 - 3 days in the refrigerator. A good start to have in the morning. Next is a banana bread recipe.
