Grapefruit Smoothie Recipe, Sharp, But Smooth.
A grapefruit smoothie recipe with orange and pineapple it's sweet to the pallet, sharp tasting, and fresh flavoured, the Ideal breakfast smoothie. Using a pink grapefruit will have more vitamin C, then there cousins, the white ones. The orange as we all know, are great for there vitamin C, but the pith is an exceptionally good source of bioflavinoids, which is vitamin P, and vitamin P helps strengthen the walls of our blood capillaries. The pineapple can be made into a great
tropical fruit smoothie
as well, but the most valuable ingredient in the pineapple is called, bromelain, this can digest many times its own weight of protein, it also has the ability to break down blood clots. This is why the pineapple is great for marinating stubborn tough foods, the likes of Calamari, off cuts of some meats, it's especially great as a tenderizer. The meat and seafood should not be left to long to marinade, a couple of hours is best.
Ingredients: - 1 orange peeled and broken into segments
- 1 pink grapefruit peeled and broken into segments
- ¼ of a small pineapple peeled
Method:
Place the segments and the pineapple into the blender and blend for 20-30 seconds, gradually increase the speed till you have a smooth texture about 30 seconds.
